An open martial arts championship “Combat Self-Defense ISO” was held in Ternopil, dedicated to honoring the memory of police officers who died while performing their duty during the war. The event became not only a sports competition but also a symbol of respect, gratitude, and national unity.
The event was organized by the Main Directorate of the National Police and the Strategic Investigations Department in the Ternopil region in cooperation with the All-Ukrainian Association of Martial Arts “Combat Self-Defense ISO”.
Serhii Ziubanenkо, Head of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Ternopil region, welcomed the athletes and emphasized the importance of such competitions in fostering strength of spirit, resilience, and patriotism:
“For centuries, Ukrainians have proven that they are warriors and patriots who will always defend their land. Therefore, today — may the strongest win! Glory to Ukraine!”
Ivan Aleksandrivskyi, Head of the Ternopil regional branch of the All-Ukrainian Association “Combat Self-Defense ISO”, emphasized the importance of supporting warriors and honoring the fallen heroes:
“For our branch and the entire Association, this championship has a special significance. We are not only developing martial arts — we are educating a generation that remembers its heroes and values their sacrifice. The participants of today’s competition demonstrated character, courage, and deep respect for those who gave their lives for Ukraine. We thank the National Police for fruitful cooperation and the opportunity to create such important events together.”
Combat Self-Defense ISO is a modern and versatile martial arts discipline that combines techniques from various combat styles aimed at effective self-defense and operational-service training. Thanks to the development of this sport within the All-Ukrainian Association, the number of young athletes ready to protect themselves and their loved ones continues to grow.
