The Odesa branch of the All-Ukrainian Martial Arts Association “Combat Samozakhyst ISO” is rapidly developing and confidently establishing itself as one of the most active martial arts centers in the Southern region of Ukraine. In 2024, the branch received a new head — Eduard Korol, who formed an ambitious development program and set new strategic goals for the team.
Development of the organization and areas of work
The All-Ukrainian Association “Combat Samozakhyst ISO” has been successfully operating in Ukraine for 10 years, and the Odesa branch, renewed this year, is actively expanding its activity areas.
“I was elected as the head of the branch, and we have many goals ahead. We are moving forward confidently and strive to ensure that every athlete can choose the direction that suits them,” says Eduard Korol.
Today in Odesa, the following disciplines are taught:
- boxing,
- kickboxing,

Autumn achievements of 2025
This season has become especially successful for the Odesa team. The athletes performed well at the Ukrainian Championship and also achieved victories at the international level.
“Our athletes performed strongly at the Ukrainian Championship, and I represented Ukraine at the World Championship, where I won,” emphasizes the head of the branch.
A total of 40 athletes took part in the autumn competitions and showed excellent results.
The team and number of athletes
The Odesa branch is demonstrating rapid growth:
today, 105 athletes of different ages and skill levels train here regularly.
The club “Viking” shows especially strong results. It presented:
- 15 athletes at the Ukrainian Championship,
- 6 of whom won gold,
- and 1 athlete won gold at the World Championship.
Among the best athletes are:
- Smychenko Erik
- Stanev Artem

These athletes have repeatedly demonstrated high results and have become role models for younger participants.
Training process specifics in Odesa
One of the unique characteristics of training in Odesa is the atmosphere and natural environment, which provide additional motivation.
“Our morning runs by the sea are a special kind of magic. Athletes receive not just physical training but also a powerful energy boost,” says the head.
The fighters’ preparation is coordinated by the head coach of the Odesa branch — Vitalii Dudnik, who has many years of coaching experience.
The coaching staff includes highly qualified specialists, including international-class judges of the highest category, ensuring a professional level of training.
Challenges and work during wartime
Modern conditions bring new challenges for sports organizations. The Odesa branch actively works with displaced children, creating the most comfortable environment for them.
“One of the biggest challenges is ensuring training for children who have been displaced, especially when we face power outages. However, we do everything possible to keep the training process going,” emphasizes Eduard Korol.
Despite the difficulties, the team demonstrates resilience, discipline, and determination.
Plans and development prospects
The Odesa branch continues to expand its activities, attracting new athletes and preparing the team for upcoming Ukrainian and international championships.
“We have big plans and are moving confidently toward them. I wish all athletes faith in their abilities and perseverance. Anyone can join our team — our doors are always open,” summarizes Eduard Korol.
