On Saturday, February 7, the sports hall of SC “Voin” in Brovary hosted the Open Championship of the Kyiv Region in Combat Self-Defense ISO, featuring competitions in the Mixed Combat and No-Gi Wrestling divisions.

Athletes from Brovary and Kyiv took part in the championship. The Brovary community was represented by athletes of SC “Voin” (Youth Sports School of the Department of Physical Culture and Sports of the Brovary City Council). The team was led by Oleksandr Kononov, President of ZTU, along with coaches Davyd Ohanov and Andrii Solonets.

The chief judge and organizer of the competition was Oleksandr Kononov. More than 120 athletes were initially expected to participate; however, due to overnight missile attacks on peaceful Ukrainian cities, damage to energy infrastructure, and unfavorable weather conditions, several teams were unable to attend. Despite these challenges, the bouts were intense and highly competitive.

Nearly 100 young athletes competed across various age groups and weight categories. Winners and medalists received their well-deserved awards, personally presented by Oleksandr Kononov. Coaches, family members, and friends actively supported the competitors throughout the event.

In the team standings, Brovary athletes claimed first place, winning a total of 90 medals (45 gold, 28 silver, and 17 bronze). Second place went to Kyiv’s SC “Khorting” with 11 medals, while third place was taken by SC “Horban Team” (Kyiv) with 8 medals.

Athletes coached by Oleksandr Kononov won 34 medals (20 gold, 10 silver, 4 bronze). The team of Davyd Ohanov earned 41 medals (16 gold, 16 silver, 9 bronze), and athletes trained by Andrii Solonets secured 13 medals (7 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze).
